Hidden Obamacare Taxes Will Cost Americans $10 Billion Annually

Lowering the cost of Americans' health insurance, a primary goal of the Affordable Care Act, is unfortunately a fairy tale. The plan should be called, the "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" plan. What started as a bill that almost nobody read, has grown into an unaffordable nightmare that many Americans now dread.

One of the major factors that will increase the cost of Obamacare, is the mandatory coverage that each individual or family plan must contain. Under Public Law 111-148 (Obamacare), Section 1302, all plans must include maternity and newborn care. That is a benefit that two grandparents, between 60 to 62 years old, and raising a 5 year old grandchild will really need.

Mandatory Health Insurance Coverage required under Obamacare

Additionally, even if they do not drink alcohol, nor do drugs, have no mental disorders, nor a family history of mental health problems, their healthcare plan must provide mental health and substance abuse services. These are most likely options they would not normally choose when purchasing healthcare insurance. And dropping the options from their plan would save them money on their premiums each month.

However, under Obamacare, they must have this unnecessary coverage, in case their 5 year old granddaughter gets addicted to drugs. Of course, at that point, the grandmother would probably be so upset, that she would start drinking, forget to take her birth control pill, and get pregnant. Naturally, these events would drive grandfather crazy. So, while the granddaughter and grandmother take advantage of the mandatory substance abuse services, grandfather can just relax and take it easy in the psychiatric ward. Does that sound ridiculous? It is. But luckily, they had the extra insurance to cover that sequence of events.

On a more serious note, one of the major provisions of the bill, and it should be called a bill, instead of an act, because American taxpayers must pay over $10 billion dollars a year in new taxes and fees that were hidden in the "bill." To learn more about the additional cost, please watch the two minute video below.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NYTimes: 9/14/2009 - A.F.L.-C.I.O. to Push for Overhaul With Public Option
"President Obama’s embattled health care plan will get a welcome and full-throated push from the A.F.L.-C.I.O. on Tuesday.

The federation’s delegates are set to approve a resolution that says the nation’s health care system is badly broken and that backs a far-reaching overhaul that would include a government-run option to compete with private insurers."
Note: Please notice the union says it is "a government-run option to compete with private insurers."  This is a very bad signal, because government will decide the winners and the losers. This is a big step away from free markets in the health insurance industry.

LaborNotes.org 8/31/2013 - Longshore Union Quits the AFL-CIO
"In a surprise move, the 60,000-member International Longshore and Warehouse Union announced its disaffiliation from the AFL-CIO yesterday. The news comes just a week before the federation is set to hold its national convention in Los Angeles, the nation’s biggest port and an ILWU stronghold."
Note: I am guessing they were just a little disappointed with their fair share under Obamacare.

"The former president of California's biggest union local was sentenced Monday to 33 months in federal prison for stealing from his low-income members to finance an expensive lifestyle that included being married to two women at the same time.
